MST Offers Upgraded Transit App Experience To All Customers

Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) is upgrading all its riders to Transit Royale, the new subscription in its official app, Transit. Beginning today, MST riders will have access to a free Royale subscription, which unlocks additional features, special MST branding, new customization options, and complete access to the app across more than 300 cities worldwide.

In August 2021, Royale launched in cities where transit agencies had not already chosen Transit as their official or recommended app for riders. Today, MST joins systems across the country in gifting Royale to all its riders, with more agencies planning announcements in the coming months.

As the update rolls out over the next week, riders in the MST service area will see a screen informing them that MST is upgrading them to Transit Royale for free. From there, users can simply tap to redeem their free subscription.

With Royale, riders have access to power features including customizable themes, as well as personalized emoji avatars that allow riders to become superstars on their local bus line and leaderboards for users competing to help the most riders with GO crowdsourcing.

This partnership also unlocks the special ability for riders to switch the app icon and theme to match MST’s branding – offering riders an enhanced mobile app experience that is at once universal and locally-branded.

MST announced Transit as its official app in April 2021. Today, thousands of MST riders use Transit every month for real-time vehicle locations and multimodal trip planning. Through Royale, MST is deepening its partnership with Transit to provide a world-class mobility app free of privacy-invading advertising.

“We understand the importance of trip planning to our passengers – and empowering our riders with innovative tools and technologies like Transit Royale to make the riding experience the best it can be just makes sense”, stated MST General Manager/CEO, Carl Sedoryk.

Transit is available in the App Store or Google Play, or by visiting www.transitapp.com.
