MODIFICATIONS TO MST’S LINE 81 PROVIDE MORE CONNECTIONS TO SAN JOSE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) will make modifications to Line 81 Fort Hunter Liggett – San Jose Airport Express effective Saturday, January 31, 2015. The daily service will see new a completely new schedule and added bus stops providing additional connections to the San Jose International Airport.
New stops at the Gonzales Shopping Center and Gilroy Caltrain Station will provide a one-seat ride to San Jose International Airport from those communities. Also, with the addition of service from Gilroy, residents of San Benito County will be able to make connections from County Express buses at the Gilroy Caltrain Station.
Line 81 already provides daily service between Fort Hunter Liggett and San Jose International Airport (at the USO Club between terminals A and B), with stops at Pine Canyon, Soledad Mission Shopping Center, the Salinas Transit Center, the San Jose Greyhound Bus Station, and the San Jose Diridon Train Station. One-way fare is $12 / $6 discount.
Funding for Line 81 is provided through a federal FTA section 5311(f) grant targeted at bringing people in rural areas to the larger intercity transportation network, including Greyhound bus, trains, and airports.
