CITY OF SOLEDAD MAYOR ANNA VELAZQUEZ ELECTED TO CHAIR OF
MONTEREY–SALINAS TRANSIT (MST) BOARD OF DIRECTORS
City of Soledad Mayor, Anna Velazquez was elected as Chair of the Monterey–Salinas Transit Board of Directors. Mayor Velazquez steps into the role most recently held by outgoing Chair, City of Monterey Councilman Dan Albert, who has held the position since 2020.
City of Sand City Mayor, Mary Ann Carbone was elected to Vice–Chair, previously held by
newly elected Chair Anna Velazquez. The announcement was made at MST’s monthly Board of Directors meeting.

“Serving on this board and supporting the diverse communities that make up this amazing
region – who not only use public transportation to protect our environment but depend on it
daily for their essential trips is extremely vital and I look forward to continuing this important work”, said Velazquez.
Velazquez served as Vice–Chair since July 2020 and will serve as Chair until July 2024.
MST’s official name is Monterey-Salinas Transit District. This special-purpose district is
governed by a thirteen-member Board of Directors made up of elected representatives from each of the twelve cities in Monterey County plus an additional representative from the Monterey County Board of Supervisors. The MST Board of Directors appoints MST’s general manager, the role currently filled by Carl Sedoryk.
