Contactless Payment Methods
MST now accepts Visa and Mastercard contactless-enabled bank cards and mobile wallets. At this time, accepted mobile wallets include: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and Fitbit Pay. For more information, visit our Contactless Fare Payment Fast Facts and FAQs.
Cash
Cash is inserted into the farebox. Exact fare is not required. If you do not have exact fare the farebox will issue credit for use on future MST trips.
GoPasses
GoPasses are non-refundable and are available in monthly, weekly and daily options. The first time you use your GoPass, remember to insert it in the slot on the top left of the farebox with the front side of the pass facing you. This will activate your pass and print the dates the pass is valid so you will know when it is time to purchase a new one. After inserting the pass the first time you use it, the pass is swiped through the magnetic strip reader slot when boarding on subsequent trips.
GoCard
The GoCard is a stored value card. Passengers can add value to their card at any time by visiting an MST customer service location and use it like a debit card when riding the bus. The GoCard allows for speedy boarding. Simply tap your card on the farebox below the digital screen and the appropriate fare will be deducted. Plus passengers receive an additional 10% value each time the card is reloaded! For example, load your card with $20 and receive $22 value on your GoCard. Use the card when you need it, save the value when you don’t. $10 minimum purchase required.
Courtesy Cards
Courtesy Cards are available to all disabled individuals free of charge with a physician’s written verification or a Medicare Card. Use the card for discounted fares and passes as proof of eligibility. Obtain an application in person at the MST Bus Stop Shop, 201 Pearl Street in Monterey, Marina Transit Exchange, 280 Reservation Road in Marina, Salinas Transit Center, 110 Salinas Street in Salinas, or here (English application / Spanish application).
