How did MST decide on these changes?
In 2021, MST worked with over 80 riders, stakeholders and community organizations to seek input and re-design the entire bus network. Early in the process, MST conducted a telephone survey with members of the general public, held focus groups with MST riders, and developed a Choices Report to outline what we heard from the community. The public was encouraged to comment throughout planning and at various community meetings. After hearing all the input, the MST Board of Directors directed staff and consultants to redesign the transit network, focusing more on ridership and less on covering all areas of the county. This effort also prioritized the transportation needs of people in low-income communities and where people need transit the most.
