LOCAL BOY SCOUT DONATED 100 HOURS OF
COMMUNITY SERVICE TO MST

Boy Scout, Matt Overfield is earning his merit badge in leadership and management by sprucing up Monterey-Salinas Transit’s bus stops. As a part of the merit badge requirements he is donating 100 hours of community service to MST.

Matt began by researching which bus stops were in need of repair, and with the help of ten members from troop 90 and six classmates in the Monterey High School ROTC program, he has since donated 100 hours of community service revamping bus stops over the course of three weekends. With this project behind him, he is on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout.

Matt is a senior with hopes of following in his father’s footsteps in the military. He has been accepted to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis MD., U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs CO., and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY.

“Matt’s volunteer efforts will benefit many by providing a safer and more attractive environment for those who utilize, or live nearby, the bus stops he worked on. We applaud his commitment and community spirit.” said MST General Manager/CEO Carl Sedoryk.
