Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) will offer a free ride to anyone wearing a First Night Monterey New Year’s Eve celebration button starting at 2:00 p.m. December 31, 2008 until the service ends at approximately 1:15 a.m. January 1, 2009.

MST Line 5 will provide free supplemental service to all passengers between Del Monte Center and the Monterey Transit Plaza in downtown Monterey every 3 to 6 minutes from 2:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

On New Year’s Eve, MST bus lines will operate a Sunday schedule. After normal operating times have expired at approximately 7:00 p.m., MST will provide additional service as follows:

Line 1X Monterey: Service will be provided hourly from 7:36 p.m. to 12:36 a.m.
Line 1X Asilomar-Lovers Point: Service will be provided hourly from 7:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.
Line 1 Monterey: Service will be provided hourly at 11:19 p.m. and 12:19 a.m.
Line 2 Pacific Grove: Service will be provided hourly from 10:45 p.m. to 12:45 a.m.
Line 4 from Carmel Rancho to Monterey, via Line 5 Monterey: Service will be provided hourly between 7:40 p.m. and 11:40 p.m.
Line 5 Carmel and Carmel Rancho via Line 4: Service will be provided from Monterey Transit Plaza hourly from 7:15 p.m. to 12:45 a.m.
Line 9 Monterey: Service will be provided hourly from 7:50 p.m. to 12:50 a.m.
Line 9 Fremont-Hilby: will operate hourly from 7:45 p.m. to 12:45 a.m.
Line 10 Monterey: Service will be provided hourly from 8:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.
Line 10 Fremont-Ord Grove: Service will be provided hourly from Monterey Transit Plaza from 7:15 p.m. to 1:15 a.m.
Line 20 Monterey: Service will be provided hourly from 7:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.
Line 20 Salinas: Service will be provided hourly between Monterey Transit Plaza and Salinas Transit Center 7:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. After midnight, First Night participants can take MST buses to Line 20 destinations in Seaside, Marina and Salinas. Service to CSUMB Quad, Preston and Schoonover Park, and Northridge Mall will be provided only upon passenger request. Trips depart Monterey Transit Plaza at 12:15, 12:30, 12:45 and 1:15 a.m.
Line 24 Carmel Valley: Upon request, the 12:15 a.m and 12:45 a.m. Line 5 trips departing Monterey Transit Plaza will continue on to Carmel Valley Village, making all Line 24 stops along the route past Carmel Rancho.
Line 41 East Alisal-Salinas: Service will be provided hourly from Natividad Medical Center from 7:42 p.m. to 12:42 a.m.
Line 41 East Alisal-Northridge: Service will run hourly from Salinas Transit Center between 7:15 p.m. and 1:15 a.m.

For the safety and convenience of our passengers, all MST buses will be free to everyone after midnight. All regularly scheduled and supplemental service is intended for use by First Night Monterey attendees as well as the general public.
