MONTEREY-SALINAS TRANSIT WINS CALACT
COORDINATION AWARD

The California Association for Coordinated Transportation (CalACT) presented Monterey-Salinas Transit with the 2010 Outstanding Coordination Effort Award at their 2010 spring conference and expo awards ceremony and luncheon today in San Francisco.

Representing small, rural, and specialized transportation providers statewide, CalACT is the largest state transit association in the United States, with nearly 300 members dedicated to promoting professional excellence, stimulating ideas and advocating for effective community transportation. The CalACT Coordination award recognizes a member of CalACT that has made positive contributions to transportation and CalACT members. (www.calact.org)

Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) was recognized for outstanding coordination and partnerships including a partnership with the Presidio of Monterey for 12 new bus routes; partnerships with the city of Monterey and the Monterey Bay Aquarium for the MST Trolley in Monterey; a partnership the city of Carmel-by-the-Sea for the MST Trolley in Carmel; partnerships with San Bernabe Vineyards, Monterey County Business Council and Energy Alternatives Solutions, Inc., (BioEASI) for the mustard seed biofuel research; a partnership with United Way’s 2-1-1 services; coordination of a taxi voucher program for residents of Pacific Meadows; and establishment of MST’s Monterey Mobility Management Center.
