REDUCED CASH FARES: Beginning September 5, 2009 MST cash fares will be temporarily reduced a quarter from $2.50 to $2.25 and 15 cents from $1.25 to $1.10 for discounted passengers (65 years or older, individuals with disabilities, Medicare Card holders, or children 46” tall to 18 years old) until Memorial Day weekend. RIDES cash fares will also be temporarily reduced a quarter per zone from $3.00 to $2.75. No other passes or fare media is eligible for the discount. Fare reductions are made possible from savings through the federal stimulus package.

Drivers do not carry change.

Discount Fares - Discounted fares are about half of the regular fare and are available to:

  • Individuals 46" tall to 18 years old
  • Individuals 65 years or older
  • Individuals with disabilities
  • Medicare cardholders

Proof of age, an MST Courtesy Card, or a Medicare card may be required. MST also honors discount courtesy cards issued by other transit systems.

Children 46" tall and under are free - A maximum of 3 children, 46" tall and under, ride free with a paying passenger.

Transfers- Transfers are 25¢ and are issued by request when you board. 10¢ for disabled, 47" tall to 18 years old, or 65 and older. Check with the coach operator for more information.

 

Fare Zones

Pay single fare within any square. Diamond zones are considered part of any square zone that they overlap. Therefore, it is a single fare between a square or a diamond zone.

North County - Includes Watsonville, Marina, Prunedale & Castroville.
Salinas -
Includes Castroville, Prunedale, Marina, Laguna Seca & Chualar.
South County -  Includes Big Sur, Carmel Highlands, Chualar, Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield & King City.
San Jose
- Includes San Jose.

Morgan Hill and Gilroy - Includes Morgan Hill and Gilroy.
Peninsula - Includes Castroville, Marina, Fort Ord, Seaside, Laguna Seca, Monterey, Pebble Beach, Sand City, Pacific Grove, Carmel Rancho, Carmel Valley Village, Del Rey Oaks, Carmel Highlands & Carmel.
